Obituary for Hoarce Lee Williams

Mr. Horace Lee Williams was born to Jerrett Williams Jr. and Mrs. Lucille Franklin Williams on September 23, 1935 in Calhoun County, Alabama. He was the third of 11 children born to that union, 9 boys and 2 girls.
He was united in holy matrimony on November 12, 1959 to Pearl Kimble Williams and to this blessed union four sons were born. Horace briefly attended Tuskegee University before focusing on his love of music: playing the saxophone. A gifted musician, Horace played for years with bands in venues across the country.
He worked for several years at Jacksonville State University, U.S. Pipe and Federal Mogul. Horace accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the St. Paul CME Church in Jacksonville, Ala., serving faithfully as a trustee until his health began to deteriorate.
Horace’s friendly face was well known by the breakfast crowd at the local Hardee’s in Jacksonville, sitting in front of the Food Outlet and hanging out friends at the Jacksonville Community Center.
Horace transitioned from this life on October 8, 2013. He was a devoted family man, known for his sweet loving spirit that he maintained throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his son, Maj. Dwayne Williams, on September 11, 2001, and seven brothers (Albert, Robert, George, Jesse, Jerrett III, Tony and John).
